School’s Out Ice Cream was created from a casual conversation where we brainstormed what we could do in the summer that would benefit our family and could accommodate Jordyn, our nonverbal, autistic daughter. As teachers, we have summers off but summer days can be tough when trying to find things to do that will keep Jordyn entertained but not overstimulated. Our goal was to have at least one outing per day that connected her to the world and her community. Hmmm, how about we buy a bus and turn it into an ice cream truck? Let’s do it!

We are fortunate to be able to share this experience with our two teenagers who are both studying Culinary Arts in high school. Although School’s Out Ice Cream is founded upon prepackaged ice cream, who knows what our next venture could be? Our guys are trained and certified within the food industry and we look forward to seeing where this new adventure takes our family!

School’s Out Ice Cream also provides us with an opportunity to give back to the community that we grew up in, work in and raise our children in. While our mission is ultimately to brighten your day by offering an assortment of your favorite frozen treats, we also aim to spread autism awareness and be a positive addition to our town!
